Author Guidelines

General Considerations:
Submitted works must be original and cannot be simultaneously submitted to another journal. The Journal of Oral Research retains all copyrights to published works, including translations; however, subsequent transcription is permitted provided the source is properly cited (J Oral Res). No author will receive remuneration.

The Journal of Oral Research accepts submissions in Spanish and English. Authors are responsible for the texts and their respective translations, when necessary; these must be written accurately and clearly, avoiding ambiguities.

The Journal of Oral Research adheres to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors and the Guidelines for Health Research Reporting compiled by Equator-Network, available at http://www.equator-network.org.

To ensure diversity in authorship, authors are limited to having three manuscripts under review simultaneously, either as the primary or co-author. Therefore, authors should wait until the review process of at least one of these manuscripts is complete before submitting another for consideration by the journal.

Articles submitted in Spanish, if accepted for publication, will be subject to a fee to help cover translation costs (a flat fee of CLP$100,000 or USD$135). We will maintain our policy of not charging postage, handling, or processing fees for publication, as we believe that financial limitations should not restrict the dissemination of scientific information.
In general, all submitted files must meet the following requirements:

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

**The author's name(s) should not appear in the text, as submissions will be sent for blind peer review by external reviewers, who will evaluate them without knowing the author's identity.

ABOUT THE ARTICLE'S STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
For general publication guidelines and styles, please refer to the file in JOral Res_plantilla_autores, which contains the article's predefined format, structure, and styles. For further information, please refer to this document.

SUBMISSION PROCESS
Articles or contributions should be submitted according to the following protocol:
1. Access the platform and review the submission requirements.
2. Review the “About the Journal” page to consult the policies, as well as the “Guidelines for Authors.”
3. Download the author template.

PLAGIARISM GUIDELINES
By submitting their work, each author declares that it is strictly original and has not been submitted for evaluation to any other journal.
Authors must declare the originality of their work, indicating that they do not reproduce any part of another author's work without providing the corresponding bibliographic reference. Manuscripts selected for evaluation will be submitted to the Compilatio plagiarism detection system. Works that do not meet the originality standards will be rejected.

DECLARATION OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Authors, reviewers, and editors must declare—by email to the journal's address—any potential conflicts of interest that could compromise public confidence in the review, selection, and publication processes of the JOURNAL OF ORAL RESEARCH. A conflict of interest is defined as any situation in which a relationship (familial, academic rivalry, financial, or otherwise) undermines the transparency and impartiality of judgments and procedures.

PEER REVIEW AND ARTICLE SELECTION PROCESS
Once original articles are received, they will undergo a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Committee, who will determine the thematic relevance and compliance with the basic requirements for academic articles, as well as their relevance to editorial policies and ethical standards. If the contributions do not meet these requirements, they will be returned to their author(s).

Each submission will be reviewed by at least two external academic reviewers specializing in double-blind peer review from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Concepción. Taking into account the journal's Article Review Form, the reviewers will determine if the article is:
- Accepted without revisions
- Accepted with minor revisions
- Accepted with major revisions
- Rejected, unpublishable

The reviewers' comments will be sent along with the editorial decision. For minor changes, the manuscript will be accepted once it includes the requested changes, without the need for new reviewers. For major changes, the revised manuscript will be evaluated by one of the original reviewers to maintain the consistency and efficiency of the process.

Rejection is final, and resubmission is not permitted.

If the article is publishable with revisions, the author must submit the corrected version for re-evaluation within the deadline established in the evaluation report. The revised article will be reviewed by our Editor and sent to the same reviewers, who will verify the incorporation of the revisions and recommend for or against publication.
